CFA Phaedrus

The Czech Plato Society is pleased to announce the XIIIth Symposium Platonicum Pragense on Plato’s Phaedrus. The conference will be held on 3–5 November 2021 in Prague, Czech Republic. The Czech Plato Society has organised international and national conferences on Plato’s philosophy since 1997.

We invite submissions of abstracts on any topic in Plato’s Phaedrus. Submissions should focus on substantive discussion and generally avoid being introductory or merely describing the state of the art.

Please submit abstracts of maximum 500 words to praguephaedrus@gmail.com, accompanied by your academic CV in a separate document, by 31 May 2021. Submissions can be in English, German or French. In order to facilitate blind review, please prepare the abstract with all identifying information withheld. Successful applicants will be notified by 31 July 2021.

Successful applicants will be offered up to 30 minutes to present their paper, followed by 40 minutes of general discussion. After the selection and review process, the conference proceedings will be published within Brill’s Plato Studies Series.

As far as the pandemic situation allows, we prefer to meet in person. However, we will make it possible for participants to join the conference online. The organisers will provide accommodation and reimbursement of travel expenses on an individual basis.
